Best Bitter takes GOLD
We are extremely proud to announce that Long Man Best Bitter has beaten off the competition to win gold at the World Beer Awards in the ‘up to 4% Bitter’ category cementing our Best Bitter as the finest to be found in Sussex and indeed the UK. Other Long Man beers to have received recent accolades include 3.8% Long Blonde, 4.1% Crafty Blonde, 4.7% Golden Tipple and 4.8% American Pale Ale. Bringing the total number of awards won in the last three years to a staggering NINE.
The World Beer Awards selects, awards, and promotes the ‘World’s Best Beers’ to consumers and the trade throughout the world.
All judging is blind with entrants being tasted and marked to an agreed and strictly enforced criteria including; aroma, flavour, appearance, condition, mouthfeel, and finish. The judges also looked for beer with balance, character, complexity and quality.
Our Sussex Best Bitter is a traditional Sussex Best, perfectly balanced with a complex bittersweet, malty taste, fragrant hops and a characteristic long smooth finish.
At Long Man Brewery we strive to produce our beers using the most sustainable and environmentally friendly methods possible. We grow our own spring barley, generate our own electricity and draw water from our borehole. In turn spent grain is used to feed the livestock, and waste water is collected and treated before being used for irrigation on the farm.
We are fast becoming a favourite of the local ale drinkers and have supported various local events including raising money for the Eastbourne Pier Benevolent Fund with our not for profit beer Craft Pier, 3.8%.
